“What Exactly is Laser Treatment?”
When we are children we are very active and we produce a
natural hormone known as endorphins) a chemical naturally produced by the
body). These endorphins help to protect us from pain, balance the body and help
us to resist addictions. As we get older
there are not as many endorphins produced by the body, we are therefore more
prone to outside influence, such as nicotine.
Nicotine comes into the system and rests on the opiads that are attached
to the nerve endings and takes over some of the job that the endorphins were
doing. Nicotine and endorphins don’t get
along well. When there is lots of nicotine in the system the endorphins get
suppressed. This often causes shortness
of breath and dulled taste buds. What we
do here is use a soft laser, it doesn’t hurt, and you don’t feel anything. We focus the laser on acupuncture points on
the hand, arm, shoulder, ear, forehead and the side of the nose. This releases endorphins back into the
system. The endorphins come rushing on
to the nerve endings and tell the nicotine that it is not needed anymore. Because the endorphins are now more active,
the craving for nicotine becomes weak and this make it much easier to quit if
someone wants to quit.
“What is your success rate?”
It is very difficult for us to determine the success rate
because after a time people sometimes go back to smoking and don’t necessarily
tell us. However, we did call clients
between three days and three weeks, as well as one year, after the treatment and 86% had stopped
smoking, so it doesn’t work with everyone.
If it doesn’t work for you the first time, you may come back for a
second treatment within the first month at no charge.
“What else do I have to do”
We have a complete after care package that we give our clients. This package contains many tips and suggestions for the client to follow at home. Anything that we reccommend is "over-the-counter" and easy to get as well as cost effective.
“How long in advance do I need to make an appointment?”
Usually a day or two depending on our schedule
“Are you open weekends?”
Limited evening and weekend appointments are available upon request.
